Reading a book is undoubtedly one of my favorite methods of travel. One page, one sentence, and I am in the world of a story. No matter my mood, a book transports me. I have encountered mythical creatures, unbelievable worlds, and characters that I never want to say goodbye to.
Unsurprisingly, next to reading, another of my passions is travel. As a travel agent, I plan trips to Italy, Hawaii, Australia, even Iceland. But the places I’d most like to travel to don’t exactly exist…
This challenge seems simple: if money and time were no object (you’ve won the biggest lottery jackpot ever, and your boss is totally fine with you taking all of the time off work you need), where would you go to experience your favorite book(s) or series? Fictional places count too, of course.
But now you have to choose: do you explore Narnia before taking in a couple classes at Hogwarts? Do you travel to New Zealand, where they filmed parts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy? Do you trace the route the pilgrims took in The Canterbury Tales, or visit London and the Charles Dickens Museum? Tell me where you’d like to go, why you’d like to go there, and how long you’d like to stay (even though sometimes the answer is “forever!”)
I would spend at least two months at Hogwarts alone, taking detours from learning magic to the enchanting towns of Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I would spend a few weeks learning from the helldivers of Lykos on Mars in the world of Red Rising. Finally I would return to the “real” world, making a world tour of literary cafés and bookstore restaurants everywhere.

I have always wanted to visit the magical world of Xanth and it’s literal interpretation of everything.
definitely Hogwarts for a charms class (my favorite subject) and Hogsmeade for a butterbeer!
I’d visit Caladan (from the Dune series) because it sounds so beautiful and amazing. Pundi rice pudding, yum!
I think I would visit Ernest Hemingway’s Paris, then, not now.
I would 100% pull a Dwight Shrute and go to New Zealand to walk the Lord of the Rings tour — all the pictures I’ve seen from friends who’ve gone on the tour have just been phenomenal (and so, so enviable.) The rolling green hills of Hobbiton, the cliffs, the snowy mountains … I can’t IMAGINE a better vacation. *cries*

I would visit the magical world from Harry Potter so I could play with all the magical animals! Or I would travel to Scotland in a real world setting because of Outlander.
Oh, I’d definitely need to spend some time at Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the world outside of the Leaky Cauldron. I’d love to visit the Herfordshire of Phil Rickman’s Merrily Watkins series. And then I’d have to take in the sights first in Queensland, Australia and then the south island of New Zealand.
I would love to visit Avalon, (The Mist of Avalon), then go to Avonlea, (Anne of Green Gables). From there I would go spooky with Dracula’s Castle, (Dracula), and then calm down in Christmas Town, Maine, (Christmas, Actually). By then I would be ready for Salem Massachusetts, (Salem Witch Trials), ending with a visit to Whiskey Creek, (Whiskey Creek Series by Brenda Novak). Then back to the place I love most, home surrounded by love. Plus my town, Juneau Alaska is awesome to me. I would love to visit Scotland and also spend time exploring Europe.
